Breakfast club news

Student helpers from Albany Rise Primary School share what they enjoy about Breakfast Club:

James: “I enjoy being a helper at Breakfast Club because it has helped me to organise my own breakfast at home. I like being in charge of kids when they arrive to have breakfast. I make sure they sign in the signing book at the front door and most importantly they wash their hands before enjoying the toast that Michaela has prepared for them. It’s lots of fun and I have met lots of new kids at the school.”

Saphira: “It’s nice to be a helper at Breakfast Club. It is especially welcoming for the new students at the school. It’s warm and kind – no one feels out of place. Free food for all!”

Nicholas: “Breakfast Club is a great place to meet new friends and have a laugh while enjoying breakfast together. It is a healthy way to start the day.”

The 3/4 students have all had a great start to the year. We have got to know each other at the start of the year and are now working hard, especially in maths and planning our imaginative narratives. We are looking forward to sharing some of these with you as soon as we have completed them.

Year 1/2 Investigations

The Year 1’s and 2’s started Investigations on the 20th of February and the children have loved exploring the different areas. This term our Inquiry topic is ‘Step Back in Time’ and we have included an olden day school room for children to understand what school was like in the past. They have also been busy sorting pictures of ‘old’ and ‘new’ toys. Children have also been enjoying the ARPS Café, Tinkering Table, Writing Corner, Mobilo and Construction areas.

Red and Yellow Day 2017

On the 13th February we had Red and Yellow Day to celebrate the Lunar New Year. We had some great performances including Lantern Dances, Fan Dances and Ribbon Dances. We also had demonstrations of Chinese yo-yo tricks, hip-hop dancing and Kung Fu.

Some teachers and students got to participate in activities. Mr Ford got to try a Chinese yo-yo trick and it nearly hit the roof!
